WHAT IS CAMS MEDICAL STUDENTS CAREER DAY?

CAMS Medical Students Career Day is an annual half-day event organized by a committee of medical student representatives from New York City medical schools, CAMS physician mentors, and CAMS staff. Physicians from local hospitals and private practices volunteer their time to answer medical students' questions on various topics, including challenges in caring for Asian patients.

In recent years, we have collaborated with the Asian Pacific American Medical School Association (APAMSA) to organize the event. This year, the Northeastern Regional Conference will be held at Yale University on October 12, 2024. The conference theme, "Threads of Wellness: Weaving Community, Connectedness, and Cultural Humility within the AANHPI Experience," will address health disparities and alternative medicine.

Last year’s program featured Dr. Nadine Chang, a clinical psychologist at Weill Cornell, known for her advocacy in Asian American mental health in New York. The event included a panel with Program Directors from various specialties discussing the match process and a popular suture clinic.

We extend our gratitude to our partners: the Asian services programs at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Maimonides Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, and NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, for their ongoing support of our Medical Student Career Day activities.
