Dr. Hou was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus at the age of 7, and despite her illness, she was able to become a physician and an advocate for patients. She is the Infection Control Officer at Jefferson Health New Jersey and is an infectious diseases attending physician with Kennedy Health Alliance Infectious Diseases in Voorhees, New Jersey. She is the physician chair of their Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and Sepsis on the Floors Task Force throughout their entire hospital system (Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital, Jefferson Stratford Hospital and Jefferson Washington Township Hospital). Dr. Hou is the physician champion for the NJHA’s (New Jersey Hospital Association) Stewardship Collaborative, a three-year state collaborative to promote guidance on use of antimicrobials and to reduce Clostridium difficile infections. She has two master’s degrees from Boston University, her medical degree of Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and also her bachelor’s in biology from Yale University. In addition, she serves on the Advisory Board for the LANtern®(Lupus Asian Network) at Hospital for Special Surgery.
